The shares repurchased in the financial year 2024 were cancelled in 2025 (capital reduction). This was intended to offset part of the dilution effect from Deutsche Telekom's capital increase in 2021, which was carried out to acquire T-Mobile US shares from Softbank. The share buyback program carried out in 2025, amounting to up to EUR 2 billion, has also been completed. The total volume of shares repurchased under this program was approximately 65.4 million shares. In total, DT shares were repurchased at a total price of approximately EUR 2.0 billion – these shares also will be cancelled. In 2026, a further share buyback program will repurchase shares worth up to EUR 2 billion. These shares will be largely cancelled, with a small portion used to fund executive compensation programs and employee share ownership plans.
